Salt & Hum Press

An independent publisher of contemporary fiction and Haitian heritage books: novels, folktales and proverbs, bilingual children's stories, and the history of Haitian music.

Salt & Hum Press publishes across three lists. The first is contemporary fiction, beginning with the Tides of Knowing romance series by Zora Tempest and its opening title, Lie to Me Instead, available in ebook and paperback.

The second is Haitian heritage. The press is bringing back the stories Haitian children grew up with, including a new edition of the Cric? Crac! fables, a treasury of Haitian proverbs, and a collection of tim tim riddles, alongside Lakou Lila, an original series of picture books told side by side in Kreyòl and English.

The third, published with KompaRetro, is the history of Haitian music: a multi-volume account of the bands, singers and composers who shaped Kompa, from its origins to the present day.
